About us
Grappling, Pankration and Amateur MMA federation was established in 2020 by Sargis Bazinyan,
and is an official representative of UWW.
WHO WE ARE
We are the Grappling, Pankration & Amateur MMA Federation of Armenia, the first and only organization in the country to officially develop these disciplines under international standards. Recognized by United World Wrestling (UWW), we are committed to uniting Armenia’s martial arts community and creating a professional, structured environment where athletes can grow, compete, and represent our nation with pride.
HISTORY & FOUNDATION
Our federation was founded in 2020 in response to the lack of an official structure for these sports in Armenia. What began as a small initiative to unite clubs and coaches has evolved into a national movement — connecting hundreds of athletes, dozens of clubs, and regional branches across the country. From the beginning, our goal has been to give Armenian fighters the opportunity to shine internationally, while building a strong base of discipline, sportsmanship, and national spirit at home.

Our mission is to promote and develop Grappling, Pankration, and Amateur MMA across all regions of Armenia — not only as sports, but as a way of life.

STRUCRUTE & LEADERSHIP
The Federation operates through a clear and active structure that ensures quality and transparency:
Main Board — responsible for strategic decisions and national planning.
Committees — specialized groups focusing on development, refereeing, competition organization, and athlete education.
Regional Clubs — implementing federation programs and identifying local talent.
Coaches & Referees — certified professionals trained under UWW and national standards.
This organizational system allows us to develop every level of the sport — from youth academies to elite international competition.
ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT & RECOGNITION
Our athletes not only compete at national and international tournaments — they also have the opportunity to earn official recognition through the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia.
Through cooperation with the Ministry, outstanding competitors can receive titles such as Master of Sports and International Level Master of Sports, representing the highest standards of achievement in Armenian athletics.
PARTNERSHIP & INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
We proudly cooperate with United World Wrestling (UWW), the Armenian National Olympic Committee, and many regional sports institutions.
Our partnerships ensure that Armenian athletes have access to world-class training systems, educational seminars, and official UWW tournaments — building bridges between Armenia and the global combat sports community.
